Greetings!
K' this is the guide to the second partial test of the B level.
As Always the first part of the test is Reading. This time around we'll be reading an article about what to do when meeting the parents (yes your Boyfriend's/Girlfriend's parents).
Here, 2 guys and 1 girl tell us their own experiences when meeting the parents.
The drills are pretty straight-forward; First, you'll have to answer true, false or "doesn't say"
E.G:
Rhonda's boyfriend's parents didn't ask her a lot of questions
___ True _X_ False _____ Doesn't say
Then it gets a little trickier because you will have to answer who said what, for instance:
"I was so nervous": __Rhonda__
"I wore a blue suit": __Will___
K' let's move on.
2nd skill's Grammar. Now here's when it gets difficult!!
1st Drill's
Complete the sentences with the -ing form or the infinitive of the verb in brackets.
This is pretty simple, You have to chose between either Infinitive (To play) and Ing Form (Playing).
E.G:
1)Try not ____To Spend___ (spend) all of your money on new clothes.
2) James left without ___Saying___ (say) goodbye to me.
2nd Drill
Underline the correct form.
Simple as it's read. Here you have to pay extra attention to details such as:
Henri hasn’t to / doesn’t have to get up early today. It’s Saturday.
Remember when we use negative form we ALWAYS use an auxiliary (most common are Don't/Doesn't)
Following this rule the correct answer to that question would be "Doesn't have to"
remember;
3rd Drill
Make First conditional sentences
Remember, you'll need both the Main & the If clause.
E.G:
Yatsuko will be upset If she doesn't pass the exam.
If you catch the 11:15 train, you will be in London at 12:30
4th Drill
Complete the sentences using either present perfect or past simple
Easy, chose between present perfect (have eaten/ has eaten) or past simple (ate)
E.G:
Gerry ___bought___ (buy) a holiday tree last year.
5th Drill
Underline the best option Since or For
This one is the easiest!!
remember:
Since
-Last year
-2001
-Friday
For
-2 years
-6 months
-A long time
- A short period of time-
6th Drill
Complete the sentences using present or past passive
Remember that the passive voice is focused on the action itself.
E.G:
My Father decorated the bathroom
The bathroom was decorated by my father.
The passive form is: BE (aux) & PastParticiple (verb)
7th and Last Drill
Complete the sentences with Used to, Didn't use to or Did ______ use to.
Simple:
Used to = Affirmative
Didn't use to = negative
Did_________ use to = question
OK, THAT WAS THE GRAMMAR PARTO OF THE TEST....
Next is the vastly feared "WRITING" part of the exam.
This time around is not going to be hard at all....
You'll have to write... A short story!!
So, get your imagination ready and write something that amaze the whole world! Who knows, you could be the next George R.R. Martin!
As usual the key aspects that you have to take in consideration are:
-Length
-Vocabulary
-Use of english
Ok, so... That's pretty much it!!
I hope you all study hard, and as always... Good Luck!!
Jorge Bräuer.
